COMMON QUESTIONS

Who should take rigging and slinging training?

  • Anyone who attaches, rigs or signals loads, including crane and hoist operators, riggers, signal persons and ground crews. It is a good next step after our Overhead Crane or Mobile Crane course for workers who rig loads every day.

How long is the certification valid?

  • PWST rigging and slinging certificates are valid for 3 years. Manitoba's regulation does not set a fixed expiry date for rigging training; it requires workers to be trained and competent for the work they do, so 3 years is our recommended refresher interval, in line with common industry practice. Retraining sooner is a good idea after an incident or near miss, or when the equipment or work conditions change.

Where does the training take place?

  • At your workplace, with the slings, hardware and lifting equipment your crews actually use. We travel to Winnipeg, Brandon, Steinbach, Thompson, Kenora and surrounding areas, and across Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario and Eastern Saskatchewan.
